We’ve got your game plan for the Fling, plus the world championship of frisbee-catching dogs happening at Nike Park (really), and a bubble-tea-and-board-games hideout for whichever afternoon the carnival wipes everyone out. Three days off. Use all of them.

Last Fling — Four Days of Carnival, Reptiles, LEGO & the Labor Day Parade 🎪
The Jaycees’ end-of-summer festival takes over downtown all four days, and getting in costs nothing. The Family Fun area is where you want to camp out: Dave DiNasso’s Traveling World of Reptiles and a spaghetti eating contest on Saturday, LEGO building and an Island Princess sing-along meet-and-greet on Sunday, and more LEGO on Monday. Then Monday at 10 AM the Labor Day Parade steps off through downtown — KidsMatter is this year’s Grand Marshal, and the candy-catching is as good as it gets. Claim your curb spot by 9:30. Live music runs all weekend, and the carnival is the ride-tickets-melting-in-your-pocket kind your kids will talk about until June.

The World Series of Frisbee Dogs Is at Nike Park — and Watching Is Free 🐶
The Ashley Whippet World Series Invitational is the oldest disc dog competition on the planet, and this year it lands in Naperville. Border collies and whippets from around the country launching themselves six feet into the air to snag frisbees, all day, for free. Spectators are genuinely welcome — this isn’t one of those events where you feel like you’re intruding. There’s a food tent both days (breakfast sandwiches in the morning, and every dollar goes to Project Oz), so you can roll up at 9 AM with your hungry children and be fully sorted. Saturday morning here, Last Fling in the afternoon — that’s a day.

Gugu’s Teahouse — Bubble Tea, Board Games & the Rainy-Day Backup Plan 🥤
A few months back we asked Naperville parents on Reddit where they really take their kids, and this one keeps coming up.
