Happy Friday, Naperville families! 🌻
This is the weekend summer starts packing its bags. Centennial Beach just flipped to weekends-only, the water park down the road closes its daily gates Sunday, and Naper Settlement plays its last outdoor concert of the year. So we built you a weekend that squeezes every last drop out of it — one big night out, one last big splash, and one free morning that costs you exactly nothing but a tank of gas.
⏰ Last Call for Summer Week

📅 This Week’s Top 3 Family Picks
Pick #1   ⚡ This Weekend Only
Naper Nights Final Weekend — Taylor Swift, Van Halen & a Free Kids Zone 🎸
📍 523 S. Webster St., Naperville
💰 $25 adults • $15 kids 4–12 • under 4 free
👶 All ages
🕑 Fri & Sat, Aug 14–15, 5–10 PM
Naper Settlement’s 13-acre lawn turns into an open-air concert field for the last time this summer, and the lineup is built for exactly the kind of night where the kids run around barefoot until 9 PM. Friday is JUMP, an honest-to-goodness Van Halen experience. Saturday is Sparks Fly doing Taylor Swift at 6, followed by a Toby Keith tribute. Here’s the part nobody tells you: there’s a free children’s area on the grounds with painting from Pinot’s Palette and games from Chasers, so the kids have somewhere to go when they’re done with the music. Local School of Rock students open each night at 5 PM — get there for that and you’ll have your blanket spot before the crowd shows.

💕 Why We Love It
A concert where nobody shushes your six-year-old. You get live music and a cold drink, they get a giant lawn and a craft table, and everybody goes home tired in the good way. Bring a blanket, bug spray, and low expectations about bedtime.
Pick #2   ⚡ Last Full Weekend
Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park — Slides, a Lazy River & a Toddler Bayou 🌊
📍 8301 Janes Ave., Woodridge
💰 $19.50 non-resident • $14 after 5 PM
👶 Ages 1–15 (under 1 free)
🕑 Fri 11:30–6 • Sat & Sun 12–6
Here’s your deadline: Sunday, August 16 is the last day of daily summer hours. After that Cypress Cove drops to weekends only through Labor Day. It’s about twelve minutes from most of Naperville and it punches well above its weight — body slides, a drifting lazy river, a zero-depth entry that little ones can walk into, and Bullfrog Bayou, the separate toddler zone with its own tiny slides where the big-kid chaos can’t reach. Go after 5 PM and the price drops to $14 for non-residents, the sun stops being brutal, and half the crowd has already gone home for dinner.

💕 Why We Love It
If you have a thrill-seeker and a nervous toddler in the same family, this place solves the fight. One can lap the lazy river all afternoon, the other can splash in Bullfrog Bayou, and you can actually see both from one chair. Go late, stay till close, and let the drive home do the rest.
Pick #3 • Free
The Museums at Lisle Station Park — A Real 1874 Train Depot and a Red Caboose 🚆
📍 921 School St., Lisle
💰 FREE
👶 Great for ages 2–12
🕑 Grounds open daily • Indoor tours Wed–Sat 10–4
Two acres, five historic buildings, and a genuine CB&Q waycar — that’s a caboose to everyone under ten — sitting right there on the rails. The 1874 Lisle depot was saved and moved here in 1978, and the campus also holds an 1850s farmhouse, a blacksmith shop, and the old Beaubien Tavern. Admission is free, always. You can walk the grounds and peek at everything from the outside any day you like, which makes it a perfect Saturday-morning stop before lunch. Want inside the buildings? Indoor tours run Wednesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM, by appointment — call 630-968-0499 a day ahead and they’ll set you up.

💕 Why We Love It
It’s the rare free outing that feels like a real destination. Train-obsessed kids lose their minds, and the shady lawn means the grown-ups get to sit down. Twenty minutes or two hours — it works either way, and it costs nothing if the weather turns.

🍽️ Kids Eat Free This Week!
One for Sunday right after the water park, one for Monday when nobody wants to cook. Both dine-in, both need an adult entrée.
⭐ Top Pick
🍺 Ellyn’s Tap & Grill — Glen Ellyn
SUNDAYS
One free kids’ meal for every adult entrée you buy, every Sunday. Open 11 AM to 9 PM, big menu, casual enough for swimsuit hair and a booth full of damp towels. It’s a straight shot up Route 53 from the water park.
940 Roosevelt Rd., Glen Ellyn • (630) 942-0940
🍺 McBride’s North — Aurora
MONDAYS
Kids eat free with an adult entrée, dine-in only. It’s a neighborhood pub on Eola Road — roughly ten minutes from south Naperville — and Monday is exactly the night this deal earns its keep.
2340 S. Eola Rd., Aurora • (630) 692-9606

Summer’s doing that thing where it pretends it has plenty of time left. It doesn’t. Pick one thing off this list, put it on the calendar tonight, and go be the parent who actually did it.
See you next Friday,
